Endocannabinoid System and Cannabinoids:

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) was discovered in 1990. It is located in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous system consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. It is perhaps the most important physiologic system involve in establishing and maintaining human health. Although the ECS affects a wide variety of biological processed, experts believe that its overall function is to regulate homeostasis. The ECS has a series of receptors on cells throughout the body designed to accept cannabinoids, the Cannabidiol in CW™ Hemp extract oil. There are two main types of receptors, cannabinoid 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid 2 (CB2). CB1 is mostly found in the brain, and also the lungs, kidney, liver, bones, heart, male and female reproductive organs. This receptor is more keyed into tetrahydrocannabinol, the main cannabinoid found in marijuana. CB2 lives in the immune system, with a significant presence in the spleen as well as the lungs, liver, bone and muscle. It has been shown to be beneficial for:

  • Appetite

  • Analgesia

  • Autonomic Nervous System

  • Energy and Balance

  • Immune Function

  • Memory

  • Metabolism

  • Sleep

  • Stress Response

  • Thermoregulation

Cannabinoids are a group of closely related compounds unique to cannabis (or hemp), notably including cannabidiol. According to a 2013 review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology studies have found cannabinoids to possess the following medical properties:

  • Antiemetic – reduces nausea and vomiting

  • Anticonvulsant – suppresses seizure activity

  • Antipsychotic – combats psychosis disorders

  • Anxiolytic/Anti-depressant

  • Anti-tumoral/Anti-cancer – combats tumor and cancer cells

  • Antioxidant – combats free-radical damage

  • Anti-inflammatory – combats inflammatory disorders
